An introduction to the Egypt Unit...

To the parents of 6B Social Studies Students:

We will be starting a new unit in social studies on Ancient Egypt.  As part of the Differentiated Curriculum focus, your student will have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of activities that will help them to become more responsible in their learning.

Mini lessons will be presented by the teacher at the start of several class sessions.  Students will also participate in center activities that will include C level minimum requirements and A/B level activity choices.

Each student will move between hands-on centers, completing work at a minimum C level.  When the required C level work is completed, each student can then go on to the next level(s) of work.  Below is a list of requirements for each level.

Assessment of your students work will focus on the quality and level of work completed, cooperative skills exhibited, and his/her on-task performance.  Since a major part of this unit will require cooperation among students, any student exhibiting disruptive or uncooperative behavior will be given alternate/comparable work.

I hope that this unit will provide your student with not only an enjoyable learning experience into our worlds past, but also help in the development of a very important skillworking and helping others.  If you have any questions, please call me at 743-6083 or email me at  sgremminger@janesville.k12.wi.us

Thank you,

Mr. Gremminger
